How To Build Your Business Through Your Identity

This is a very important assignment for you today if you want to operate out of your identity in Christ through your business. When I speak on how to overcome obstacles through your identity in Christ, I walk people through this coaching myself. I want you to say all of these statements out loud and stop and write down whether you agree or disagree with them. If you take this seriously and in your prayer time, you will see exactly where you need to do identity work for this upcoming year.  For example:

  1. I AM forgiven for every place I have hurt others or blatantly disobeyed the Holy Spirit when I felt led to not to something. Agree or Disagree?
  2. I AM a son or daughter that my Father is pleased with. Agree or Disagree?
  3. I AM adopted in the body of Christ, no longer solitary or floating and am making disciples with grace. Agree or Disagree?
  4. I AM a powerful, loving and disciplined person. Agree or Disagree?
  5. I AM rooted and grounded relationally in the love of Christ. Therefore I am a team player and can challenge my team-mates in Christ to pursue their high calling because that is what I am doing. Agree or Disagree?
  6. I AM a resource multiplier and don’t need more to grow. I use what’s in my hand and I let God do the reproducing. Agree or Disagree?
  7. I AM delivered from the power of Satan unto God from all ADHD, distraction, fear of man, mental illness and tormenting thoughts. Agree or Disagree?
  8. I AM a man or woman of great faith and SPEAK TO MOUNTAINS TO MOVE and they have to be uprooted. This goes for every obstacle in my life that is not in the will of God for me including debt, negative individuals, bad jobs, exhausting cycles.
  9. I AM a bold and wise person. Serpents, scorpions, abuse, control, injustice, or outright persecution shall not harm me, my calling or my career. I slip right through it. Agree or Disagree?
  10. I AM able to discern temptation, power plays, manipulative people that will distract me from my mission with ease. I handle them by speaking the truth in love like Jesus. Agree or Disagree?
  11. I AM an influential person who walks in authority. Signs and wonders follow me as well as words of wisdom and supernatural revelation for people. Agree or Disagree?
  12. I AM someone who is strategic, focused and says no without guilt to everything outside my vision. I am not a people pleaser, I am about my Father’s business.

How To Do Authentic Lead Generation

Would you like to know how to generate leads in an authentic way? If you want a higher altitude view of the foundations you need to have in place,  go back and read this blog first.  Without some foundational pages in place on your website, when you speak, when you post on social media, you have nothing to offer a lead that would help them understand who you are and what makes you different then everyone else!

Are you going to be able to go out and FIND  50 or 100 hundred people a month to talk with about what you do specifically and what results they will receive from you? (A great opt-in (START NOW page)  will pre-qualify leads so that when you get on the phone with them, they are already ready for what you have to offer.

Have you solved how to generate leads so you can fill your pipeline to overflowing? 

Do you feel confident enough to be consistent despite hearing no and being rejected dozens of times a month? (This is huge. With an opt-in, people just unsubscribe if they don’t like what you offer. Rejection can totally wipe out new coaches)

If you answered no to any or all of these, then you need an opt-in offer in place. Here are a couple points for creating your first one so it’s compelling and successful

Make sure before you create it, you’re clear on exactly who your target audience is. Niching will make or break your business.

Don’t solve 15 problems in your opt-in. Solve one or two BIG PAIN POINTS and make it easy for them to sign up. Typically a good opt-in for beginners is 3 to 7 days of molecular coaching. Decide on your topic, invest in buying a lead capture and email automation program and get started writing your opt-in. Again, for example, the idea for horse coach opt-in=> The first 3 things you need to do before you get into the saddle to teach your horse that you’re the boss!

If you’re a horse coach, make sure you only have a START NOW page that is consistent with your programs and products. Remember the job of the opt-in is to make your client HUNGRY to experience your coaching and how you can make life easier and more profitable for them no matter how you’re serving. It sounds rather self-explanatory but you would be surprised at the disconnect people experience between their branding says and what they offer.

What Building An Email List and Stewardship Have In Common

In the book of Genesis, God takes time to build a beautiful world and then creates Adam to work and take care of it.  Can I tell you something? Your vision for coaching, speaking, writing and transforming people with your testimony is the world you create. Your email list is the “work” God has given you to do practically. Adam stewarded the animals and people God had given him. You’re going to steward the people who follow you by putting them on an email list and sending out great training, blogs, and programs that help them become successful!

Now, here are a couple reason’s why it’s important that you begin to create and then cultivate a list.

1. Your list is your’s alone. You can’t steward what isn’t yours. Taking personal ownership is a biblical principle and the challenge with free websites, free anything is if people don’t like what you are saying, they can remove you off the platform and you lose all your work and all your intellectual property.

2.  An email list helps you manage WHO God is sending to you. If you build your list correctly (and by correctly I mean by serving people in a powerful way) it helps you graciously care and help your subscribers be developed over time. Let me say that again. Over time. Why over time? Because you want to be authentic and not exaggerate or hype things up and it takes consistently serving people over spans of months in order to help them trust you. This translates into them buying your products, programs and books without you feeling like a car salesman. (Apologies ahead to those in the car dealership arena)

3. Your email list is your weekly pulpit. It’s where people come to listen to you give them something spiritual and practical to take home and grow with. Imagine your Pastor showing up once a month to help you grow in the word of God. Nope. If you’re going to steward people’s hearts, you’re going to have to be consistent and faithful over long periods of time.

4. It helps you stay in a place spiritually where you are serving because you want to be faithful not because people are paying you. Believe me people can see the difference and they will tell you thank you when they finally do buy a product or program. Give them some of the best things you have because here is what you’re working for! To hear this:

Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!

3 Ways To Convert Clients Through Your Blog

At the beginning of my business, I really struggled with how to blog, market and serve clients all at the same time. I didn’t have anyone open the door for me to speak so I had to come up with creative ways for people to understand how I served and how I could help them receive the results they were looking for.

I found out fast that consistent service was one of the most important things about growth. I thought about myself in the pulpit every Sunday. It would require me to really come up with specific strategies on how to help people grow. There was no maybe or I don’t feel like serving. I took my “businistry” seriously and you will have to also.

Here are three things you can do to create conversions without coming across pushy!

Vision cast and them offer to help them accomplish that

When I began my business, I created momentum and buzz with a free monthly tele-seminar by picking a topic that I knew my clients wanted to solve. I then wrote three blogs in a month that peaked curiosity and activated their faith that this was solvable. At the end of every blog, I put a link for them to sign up for my free call and then on the fourth blog, I told them what I was going to solve for them if they showed up live to listen to my call. I basically used my blogs as a script with some minor adjustments and then on the call I gave them a couple molecular points that I hadn’t talked about the blog. I also made a time-sensitive offer that if they moved forward within two days, they received a discount.  I did this every month for two years until I built up enough business to fill my pipeline consistently. When I finished the call, I turned it into a video or training in my private programs for new clients.

Create a product and then link to it in your author box

Basically, you share a little about yourself and where you an expert and then link to your current program. Always make sure where you drive traffic has a compelling sales landing page and easy check outbox. When you are ready to begin to pay for advertising on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, you can figure out what your most popular blog is and then just place your offer on the bottom.

Lead them to a great opt-in-offer

This is an extremely effective way to convert leads IF you have a “how to solve” series that people want to sign up for. This requires you to get very clear on exactly WHO you think your clients are and what they need to solve to go the next level in their growth. This is work I do with my Leadership team as it takes trial and effort as well as specificity.  As you market, you can get up to 100 new leads a month to add to your list for as little as $5 a day. As you continue to serve on your weekly newsletter, you will convert to your current offers of what you have going on. Remember, this process takes time as people do not typically sign up for programs, coaching or buy products the first month they sign up on your list. However, if you serve consistently and well with excellent content, you will grow in a paced manner.

The biggest challenge people have is not blocking time EVERYDAY to market your business. You can’t expect clients to contact you unless you give them a compelling reason to do so. You must strategize and take time to build a funnel system so while you’re serving clients, you’re list is growing.

How To Share What You Do With Humility

Many Christians confuse God-given confidence with pride because honestly, can I say this? Sometimes we struggle with false humility.  It’s important that you don’t miss opportunities to help someone receive results because you are worried that people will think your arrogant.

Here’s a practical example. You have been asking God for favor, and someone shares with you a problem they are trying to solve. This is an area of your life where God has built a message in you. You struggled with that bondage, the Lord gave you breakthrough and you know deep down you have spiritual authority in this area. But you hold back. Many times when I am coaching people on developing their messages and growing their faith-based business, it’s because they don’t know the difference between narcissism and authentic Godly confidence. Remember, even David was accused by his brothers for being prideful when he just merely articulated what God had helped him overcome and how he would do the same with Goliath.

Remember, spiritual warfare always comes to attack your faith in God’s ability and the identity you reproduce in others.

So, let’s talk about what real self-promotion is in action as opposed to Godly confidence. Because typically individuals who engage in me, me, me~ do not receive the fruit of deep respect and honor that they are looking for. They usually get the opposite; they feel like they never arrive, judgment from others and disrespect because the glory of God is extended by common consent. People also can sense if you’re confidence comes from some people who have received transformation authentically or because you have a vacation to fund. (Can we just be real?) When you share how you serve and then get OFFENDED if people don’t move forward with you, then you’re under a spirit of Mammon which partners with pride. Godly confidence does not take offense or try to manipulate others into doing what they want to see done.

What I typically have to coach clients through, especially if they grew up in a shame-based or fear-based thinking home, is that they are not comfortable with being the person who creates tension. They were either raised in an environment where everyone was passive-aggressive, or they were intimidated when they showed initiative or strength. But here’s the bottom line if you ever want to multiply the message God has given you! In order to move people towards freedom, they have to be illuminated at times to the pain they are in, the results that

To move people towards independence, they have to be illuminated at times to the pain they are in, the results that their choices are producing for them and you have to be the one to challenge them to embrace the work new breakthrough entails. How you know if God is sending YOU to be the one to set them free is it’s an area you have struggled and received RESURRECTION LIFE. See friend; you’re not responsible as the messenger for their choice to accept the work God has for them. Your responsibility is to boldly communicate how you serve and how you can help them solve that problem.

 Often times people either receive a “no” as rejection they internalize as WHO they are IDENTITY-WISE, or they feel the tension that is coming to them because underlying the whole interaction, the person wants to take bold action, they want to get the result’s you have produced in your life or others, but they are struggling with the fear of failure. That’s why they have to CHOOSE OFFENSE! In the spirit realm, you are feeling in the conversation the doubt and unbelief and how they mask that in jealousy or putting you down. Honestly, if they didn’t choose to be offended, they would have to decide to repent for fear and accept faith. Most people are not that healthy, intuitive enough or practiced in the presence of God enough to discern doubt and unbelief that fast.

In a nutshell:

1. Never hold back your message and the overcoming work God has done in your life or how you can solve people’s problems with your programs. I was sharing this with someone I prayed with today. Mammon is part of ministries and marketplace businesses. You can discern it by the lack of generosity, trust, and manipulation that people feel around the giving or the transaction. When you’re fueled by excellent service, you will be thankful you invested the money and had the faith to believe for a significant return and impact. Charging in business for your service (even if it’s faith-based) is not greedy just as if being in ministry and running a 501c makes you immune from making poor financial decisions. It’s the motive and results people get from interacting with you. If you’re excellent at what you do, your ministry or business will grow as you faithfully steward it.

2. Know precisely what results people will receive from your product or program. You should have minimally three apparent results.

3. Be ready at all times to have something going on you can invite people to or capture their information on email so you can follow up. Without this, you’re going to miss opportunities to help people receive transformation.

How To Build Trust In Business

This is part 4 in a 4 part series I am doing on how to grow your business without hype. This week I want to share with you the mindset and practical way you create trust with your brand.

What makes someone effective at growing a coaching business is their work ethic and how well they stay consistent in serving throughout the whole year. When I launched my first business, SUCCESSnotsabotage, I didn’t have any marketing experience, but I had been practiced in prayer, follow up in ministry and just being faithful with my friendships. In other words, I knew how to stay paced with people until they grew. I was willing to learn new skills until I could hire out.

With that said, I am big on watching what people do CONSISTENTLY and not just what they say about themselves.  I have a little different way of doing business than most coaches in that I look at my business as a ministry, so for that reason, I am not money driven. I am driven by transformation and profit’s second.

Here’s what you need to know. TRUST takes time to build and it won’t happen unless you are consistent to serve every week and every month for YEARS.

Then when you are meeting with potential clients, I don’t like to talk to them about my more expensive coaching. I want to just help them get plugged in because I want to spend some time watching their life and actions. When people come to me and want private coaching, I often down-sell them! I ask them to join my Leadership track first.  Now I do this for a couple of reasons.

  1. I know from my own experience in business that people are missing boldness, creativity on how to serve and consistent execution skills. That’s a leadership issue, not a business problem! Who likes to knock on doors, cold call or challenge people with the truth of the gospel? Anyone? No, none of it is comfortable. But if you believe it will save someone pain or suffering than getting bold! Seriously, you can learn for under $2,000 rather than 5 to 10,000 in higher end business coaching.
  2. I know I can save them money and help them grow their leadership skills to a place they are consistent. I will keep them encouraged and accountable there which is frankly why most people quit before they make money (not because they don’t have what it takes). Ninety percent of business or ministry is work ethic and perseverance, and that happens better with learning how to stay paced. Create an identity and culture for your business, not just a product!
  3. When people know you’re not after their money but helping them get results they will invest more money with you when they are ready. That comes from your casting a bigger vision for them and helping them attain it. Clients who have been on my team and wanted to attend an in-person event I am doing that cost one or two thousand, know from being part of my lower end programs that I will tell them the truth. I can look at the work they have done and told them honestly if think they have what it takes to go to the next level. That doesn’t always guarantee they will be successful because I can’t do the work for them but at least I can see a track record of what they have done in the past!

So as you consider building bigger programs financially with a deeper investment for your client, think of this. Stay away from the rah-rah emotional talk and hype. Pray, walk in integrity and then help people receive TANGIBLE RESULTS. Start with a core product that helps them stay consistent with their leadership and make it doable financially for every mom or dad. You want them to be able to integrate this into their every day life.

Then when they see that they can build success with simple strategies, invite them to become more disciplined with their time and focused on how they serve people. Always associate investing money with becoming more disciplined! Developing products is not hard but it does take you thinking strategically ahead. Expanding your business is going to require you to have to learn, implement and teach new systems and there’s a learning curve in all that, but you don’t go to the next level of profitability without a better system. I have experienced it about five times now in my personal life and business. There’s a crisis, and it brings me to a place of expansion that overwhelms me with having to block my time better and develop a better system for myself, my family or my clients.

Think about anything that bought you more environmental, emotional peace or financial stability. It’s most likely because you had to take the time to prune, organize and plan for what you wanted to see result wise. You had to do it consistently for a long while. During this period you built trust. People trust what they watch you be faithful in the long term. This is why if you aren’t in 100% committed to building long-term results, you can’t ask God for a blessing. He’s an inter-generational God. That was a freebie!

5 Reasons You Should Get Started Writing That Coaching Program

Writing your own coaching manual is one of the greatest ways to multiply the work of grace Christ has done in your life. If I had someone share with me the information that I am going to tell you today, I would have never struggled with blocking time to get started writing. It has grown my business profitably and I have been able to use my testimony on how God set me free to point to Christ.

So here’s the truth. God sometimes calls people to influence in super-spiritual ways; I am not disputing that. Maybe they have some vision or prophetic word that they will be influencers or they have a call to ministry. And then there is all the rest of us that God just gives this nagging feeling to that won’t go away; that feels more like a desire to start a business that we can share our testimony in a blogs, books, coaching or speaking. For some reason, if it’s a desire then it is so much easier to ignore or think it’s “flesh.”  But here’s the thing. Desires are planted by the Lord, and if your heart is to see people set free, this is just as valid as some mystical experience.

Let me assure you, whether you have strong impressions in prayer, idea’s that you think would help others build success or just that ordinary nagging, won’t go away feeling the way I did; this is the Holy Spirit nudging you to write down your thoughts and processes into a precise form. So, it’s important that you yield to this, the same way you would yield to God asking you to deal with some aspect of your old nature. God leads, we follow.

Why Some People Talk About Transforming Lives But Never Do It

I have noticed that the more people struggle with needing affirmation from others, the longer they talk and don’t take action to pioneer their own thing. After coaching hundreds of people through this process, it boils down to one issue. They are afraid to put their leadership out there for people to inspect because all deep down most of us are scared of getting found out that we are deceiving ourselves, all our hard work will amount to nothing or that worse, people don’t agree with our theology, think we are prideful and slam us publicly. (Been there done that:)

The first year of blogging I did for my business was terrible! I had a friend of mine who was an English teacher go through it them with a red pen, and I cried reading her comments. But here’s the thing. After I kept writing and kept coaching by faith, it helped me define my brand and helped me identify my boldest identity zones. I had so many people tell me that year that my coaching deeply changed them that it confirmed to me I was in the will of God. The bottom line is if God has spoken to you about coaching, writing your programs or even books for speaking, it is now about what God wants to use you for and not whether you feel like developing it or you don’t have time, resources put aside or the confidence.  It’s about you being obedient, activating your faith and stepping into a place and position where you can be used as a conduit for God’s message.

Here Are Five Reason’s To Get Started Writing That Blog, Book Or Course Work

1. Writing a book or developing a training course is about WHO God is sending you to transform.

I believe this is why most people who say, “I’m going to write a book, speak or create a training program someday,” never cast their vision, block time to write and FINISH in a deadline (Because the truth is you can have the never-ending perfectionistic project). It’s because it’s still about them and they are getting spiritual warfare! When you have a revelation that the Lord is trying to activate you to bring him glory, you will find the time to get up at 4 am if you have to write, bump the lunches so you can write while you are at work and otherwise do what you have to do to finish it.  You will be able to push through the fear of the whole thing being a complete failure because you now have become OBEDIENT and now it’s up to God on what to do with it.

2.  Developing your blog, book or course work will force you to identify your BOLDEST IDENTITY zone. This is the place you are most anointed to serve people in.

I just spoke at the Georgia Christian Counselors Association about growing extra income streams for your business. You grow profitably because you stay in the RIGHT ZONES that God has graced you with. Here’s what I see happen again and again. We all have resurrection stories that glorify Christ and lead people to HIM. There is anointing on your testimony because it is the work of the Holy Spirit in your life. When you take the time to harness this and give your audience a step-by-step system for break-through, the results are BOLD. It’s because your brokenness is the place God wants to use, not your knowledge. This is why you don’t have to worry about it being too simple or not theologically deep enough. Write about your pure illumination from the Lord and watch how what the enemy meant for evil, God turns for his GLORY!

3.  Writing a book, coaching or developing courses is about God using you now in the small things. In your closest friendships, in your neighborhood, and in your city.

Holy Cow. Don’t even get me started here with the professional speaking friends I have whose big city published books are sitting in their garage affecting NO ONE. You don’t have to be published by supernova Christian book publisher to begin transforming people’s lives. You can start blogging for around $500 or  self-publish your first book like I did and see if it affects people for the kingdom BEFORE you invest $20,000 into a bigger publishing venture. Let’s be clear; your book is about GOD touching people, not fame, fortune and the big bucks you will make. Quit worrying about who will publish it and the cover, layout, and editing. Just get started writing and finish it and God will give you all those steps when you need them.

4. Writing down your strategies will make you such a better communicator. You will feel so thankful that you took that leap of faith to develop your own content and brand. 

There is no better feeling than looking back over the places that Satan has kicked your butt with and getting the satisfaction of seeing the Lord lifted high 100 times for all the ten times that the devil stole from you. WOOT! It’s a beautiful, overcoming, dance in the living room, sing in the car, your victory song! There is something so powerful that happens when you take that thought that has been floating around in your heart and head, and you put it down on paper. It comes to life, and now it can be multiplied. Many times I have written a blog, someone saw it and then invited me to speak on the subject, or they emailed me from halfway around the world telling me it ultimately set them free. It is true that you will magnetize to you what you develop the clarity for, if you share it consistently, it will get even bigger.

5. It will be one of the most fulfilling things you have ever done, and you will look back and THANK GOD for the grace he gave you to get it out of you. 

When I look at the transformation that God has brought my clients through my books, I am so humbled by his grace. Every time I take a new client through my team or use it when I speak,  I pause and say, “Only you Oh, Lord”. And we all know this, but only God can take the simple things and give people profoundly, life-altering deliverance with it. I don’t want ever to be the kind of person who is looking back and wondering what it would have been like to obey God fully. I want the whole adventure. Risk, success, and failure.
